FIVE WAYS TO FLIRT: Jeffrey Hall, assistant professor of communication studies, was quoted widely, including a WebMD Health News story about his study into the different styles of flirting and what they say about how a person communicates romantic interest. Hall identified five styles: physical, traditional, polite, sincere and playful. A person’s style of flirting can make a difference in whether or not a relationship will be successful, he said. "In some ways,” Hall said, "the very early part of developing relationships is important to the success of long-term relationships, including marriages.”

NO NEED TO FIGHT: Tom Volek, associate professor of journalism, was quoted in an Arab News story about the U.S. Army giving an extensive press tour to international journalists. The tour was sponsored by the Army’s Command and General Staff College and the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Volek organized the program. “‘Bridging the Gap’ enables our two cultures — the military and the media — to better know each other,” Volek said. “We want journalists to come away from the week-long experience liking the Army, while also having the Army feel the same way about journalists.”
