Samuel Clayton Miranda
Samuel Clayton Miranda, 78, died May 28. He was the assistant basketball coach in charge of recruiting at KU from 1964 to 1976. He also taught basketball theory through Continuing Education. Survivors include his wife, mother, a sister, four daughters and nine grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Westminster Bell Choir at First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence or a charity, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Ernest Terry Patterson
Ernest Terry Patterson, 61, died May 9. He worked as a painter for 22 years at the Department of Student Housing. Survivors include his wife, two sons, a sister and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Dialysis Center.
Lula Margaret Jennings Trowbridge
Lula Margaret Jennings Trowbridge, 92, died April 25. She began working at the KU theater department in 1969 and managed the costume shop for theater productions. Survivors include three sons, a brother, 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Online condolences may be sent at warrenmcelwain.com.
George R. Tiller
Dr. George R. Tiller, 67, died May 31. Tiller was a part time clinical instructor at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita from 1976 to 1992. He was a volunteer instructor from 1992 to 1995 and from 1997 to 2009. Tiller attended KU on a swimming scholarship, earned a degree in zoology in 1963 and graduate from the KU School of Medicine in 1967. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, son, two daughters; ten grandchildren and a sister. The family suggests memorials be sent to the George R. Tiller, M.D., Memorial Fund for the Advancement of Women's Health in care of the Wichita Community Foundation, 200 W. Douglas, Suite 250, Wichita, KS 67202.
