SCHOOL OF MEDICINE-WICHITA: “The Curiosity Cabinet: A Celebration of the Odd, Unusual and Wonderful!” is on display through April 24 in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-West. The exhibit consists of 10 panels and is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The collection of oddities includes a 10-foot model of the Eiffel Tower constructed entirely of cocktail swords. The exhibit is from the Clendening History of Medicine-Museum, the KU Medical Center and the Western Museum Association.
KU MEDICAL CENTER: Glen Cox has been named chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management. Cox assumed the role of interim chair, as well as director of the Institute for Community and Public Health, in May.
Under Cox’s leadership, the department was able to finalize its doctoral program, and the medical center accepted its first doctoral students in January for the new degree in health policy and management. The department also has implemented a new curriculum and recently received accreditation.
In addition to advancing the programs in the department, Cox will continue to be director of the Institute for Community and Public Health.
EDWARDS CAMPUS: The Edwards Campus is hosting a series of career transition workshops April 16. A panel discussion will be held from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. at 165 Regnier Hall. Jenny Donovan, college relations recruiting team leader, Garmin International Inc.; Annette Glary, vice president of human resources, DEMDAC Inc.; and Craig Woodson, senior vice president, human resources division, Commerce Bank, will lead the discussion.
“Me, Myself and I: Building Your Personal Brand” will be held from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. at 163 Regnier Hall. Eric Morgenstern, president and CEO, Morningstar Communications, will lead the discussion.
“Job Search Strategies” will conclude the evening, from 7:20 to 8:30 p.m. at 163 Regnier Hall. Bonnie Rasmussen, associate director of professional services, Lee Hecht Harrison, will lead the session. All sessions are free and open to the public.
