Drag and drop files into Hawk Drive using WebDAV
Information Services has created Hawk Drive, a new secure way for KU employees to share documents with colleagues. For more, read the article in this issue. In addition to uploading documents to Hawk Drive using a web browser, users can also drag and drop files directly into Hawk Drive via WebDAV. For Windows (PC) users, in XP:
1. Click on "Start" and then "My Network Places.”
2. Under Network Tasks, click “Add Network Place.”
3. When prompted, “Where do you want to create this Network Place?” select “Choose Another Network Location” and click on "Next.”
4. In the Add Network Place Wizard, select “Choose another network location.” The address of that directory on the Xythos server will be "https://documents.ku.edu/users2/directory_name," replacing “directory_name” with the user’s KU Online ID.
5. When prompted for a user name and password, type in KU Online ID and password.
6. Click "OK.”
7. Next, name the network place and select "Next.” When the shortcut has been added, select "Finish.” An icon for the new shortcut will appear in the My Network Places directory.
For Macintosh (Apple) users, in OS X.5 or higher:
1. From the desktop (Finder), choose “Go” and “Connect to Server.”
2. In the Server Address window type https://documents.ku.edu/users2/directory_name, replacing "directory_name" with KU Online ID.
3. When prompted for a user name and password, type in KU Online ID and password.
4. Click “OK.”
5. This will place a mount point as a shared resource in Finder. The shared resource will be named “documents.ku.edu”
